The King of the Jungle

We left our safari camp at the crack of dawn and drove to Ngorongoro crater, the largest intact caldera in Africa. We went on a long-anticipated safari.

This place was straight out of the Lion King. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Lucky glimpse of giraffes on the way in--this is apparently rare

The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Then he woke up

We were able to so close to the animals; I didn't expect that!

After this amazing morning, we traveled back to the UAACC, where we were greeted by warm washcloths and fresh pineapple juice. Our educational tour felt a little like a vacation at this point.

  1. Ok Wow!! The safari looks like it was awesome!! Your pictures -especially of the zebras were so good. Does seem crazy to be so close to the animals as you were. Another fabulous experience for you! Geez less than a month now til your mom and Haley get there. Can't wait for you all to get back home then. So glad you have kept this blog so we don't have to bombard you with so many questions when you get back. Snowqueen is tonight here in G'burg. I will be missing it cuz John and I are heading to Aberdeen this afternoon for Austin's last football game. Feeling bad about missing Regan in jr snowqueen and then at last minute Alli and some girls put together a rap for talent cuz had student council meeting and there was no talent for sr division. Think they did round up a couple things since Thursday--crazy kids--but fun! Barb said she would video for me since Regan in it too. Take care Jenae. Miss you!! Love you, Bridget
